MSCT 680 - Enterprise Storage

Course Description

Provides the necessary skills to plan, design, manage and support distributed storage systems and devices. Focuses on operating and managing a mixed platform, multi-vendor, interoperable enterprise.

Course Overview

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:

Become well informed, so that they may provide the public with scientific information and expert judgment as part of the basis for social and political decisions.
Develop an awareness of the socially beneficial uses of computers, as well as harmful uses of computers.
Assess a variety of enterprise storage strategies for risks and benefits, and define objectives for maximizing the effectiveness of a storage investment in a particular case.
Develop a storage policy that can address issues such as availability requirements, disaster recovery, growth, adaptability, and security issues.
Research a variety of specific enterprise storage technologies in relation to a particular set of needs, and analyze the options in support of implementation.
Provide effective management direction for a heterogeneous enterprise storage environment by using standards, interoperability tools, and other resources.
Maintain awareness of ongoing security issues as a result of changes in technologies, applications, designs, environment, and markets.
